Braintree: X Factor's Sam: "We always knew we would be like Marmite"
1:00pm Friday 20th September 2013 in News
A purple-haired singer from Cressing was part of a trio who won over head judge Gary Barlow to go through to bootcamp.
Sam Morris, 22, was shown on the Xtra Factor at weekend performing alongside friends Tom Davis and Lulu Smith as part of group Plastic.
The eyecatching trio impressed judges with their cover of N-Sync’s Pop before performing their own song, 90s, to the 4,000 strong audience at Wembley.
The boys, who live together in “Plastic Palace” in South London soared through to bootcamp with praise from all judges.
Sam, whose family live in Benton Close, Cressing, said: “We can’t say anything about the process but everyone knows we are through to bootcamp so we are really happy."
Since the show aired at weekend he described how they have started to be recognised in the street, with one Tube driver beeping his horn and cheering them on.
He said: “You are on the biggest show but still getting on the tube and it is weird because everyone knows who you are overnight.
“We always knew we were going to be like Marmite, but the response has been quite overwhelming.”
