Witham: Footbridge approved for dangerous level crossing
11:00am Saturday 14th September 2013 in News
A footbridge will be built over a railway line where a young father was killed by a passing train earlier this year.
Essex County Council (ECC) has approved Network Rail’s application for a new bridge to replace the level crossing at Motts Lane, Witham.
Michal Majzner, 30, of Pennyroyal Crescent, was hit by a train while on his way to work at the town’s Eastways Business Park in January.
The well-used crossing, which links residential areas with the town’s industrial estates, had already been earmarked for closure by Network Rail a year earlier.
