Braintree: Campaigners demand cycle path work is halted
2:00pm Thursday 12th September 2013 in News
Campaigners are urging Braintree Council to halt work on a new cycle track amid claims it is destroying a nature reserve.
They fear the new £227,000 cycle path, connecting Vernon Way to River Mead in Braintree, will resemble a “run way” cutting through the Bocking and Blackwater Nature Reserve.
County Councillor Roger Walters, Chairman of the Braintree Local Highways Panel said: “The nature reserve is a wonderful place to visit, so we are hoping that many more residents will use the new path to discover areas of their town they haven’t discovered before.”
