Braintree: Manufacturing arm of lighting firm to shed jobs
3:00pm Saturday 14th September 2013 in News
Thirty-five jobs are being lost at a lighting manufacturer as the firm is restructured after falling into administration.
The job losses at Riegens Lighting Ltd, the UK subsidiary of a bigger Danish company, come after administrators FRP Advisory were called in last month.
The firm, which got into difficulties following a delayed reaction to the financial crisis, continued trading while a buyer was sought.
A deal was eventually struck to save 15 sales and support posts after that arm of the business was bought by its Odense-based parent company, Riegens A/S, through another subsidiary.
However, some 35 manufacturing jobs will go, with all products set to be made in Denmark and exported to the UK instead.
The Braintree office will now solely function as a UK sales hub.
