9:00am Wednesday 11th September 2013 in News
A man was arrested after police stormed a family home and discovered drugs, bullets and what are thought to be stolen goods.
Children screamed in terror as police smashed through the front door of the house in Alan Road, on Witham’s Hatfield Road estate, at about 9.30am on Saturday.
Nine officers, including a dog handler, were involved as the home was meticulously searched.
They seized 50 2.2mm rifle or handgun bullets, a grinder, spliff and small amount of cannabis, as well as 16 commemorative coins, believed to have been stolen during a burglary in the Colchester area in February.
A 33-year-old Witham man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of possession of a class B drug, possession of ammunition without a licence and handling stolen goods.
