9:00am Tuesday 10th September 2013 in News
A church held a service to install its new vicar as it gets ready to celebrate its 100th anniversary.
Sarah Hayward was formally welcomed as the new priest-in-charge at St Paul’s Church, in Hay Lane South, Braintree, last Tuesday.
Several local dignitaries attended the service, which was led by the Bishop of Chelmsford, Stephen Cotterill.
Church warden Aidan Kelly said: "It was wonderful to witness such an historic event in the 100th year of St Paul's.
“We welcome Sarah and her family at St Paul's and look forward to working with her over the coming years.”
As part of the centenary celebrations, a concert is being held at the church on Friday evening at 7.30pm.
The concert, which features the Braintree Male Voice Choir, will be raising money for PARC.
