Braintree: Children get active at sports camps
5:00pm Friday 23rd August 2013 in News
Children have been kept active and on their toes this summer with two week’s worth of Fit For Sport Camps at Braintree Leisure Centre.
The camps, run in partnership with Fusion Lifestyle, were held to encourage children to keep active throughout the summer holidays and saw between 15 and 20 children each day aged between five and 12 get involved in a selection of sports and games including Olympic themed activities such as javelin throwing, relay races, shot put and sprinting races.
They also had the opportunity to play football and tennis and take part in team building games and healthy-eating based quizzes.
Stephanie Hibbert, spokesperson for Fit for Sport, said: “Children had the opportunity to be active, engaged and learn about the benefits of a healthy lifestyle in a fun and engaging manner.
“We are passionate about getting any children active during the school holidays, which is normally a time where children can easily be inactive due to lack of options.
“Children enjoyed a wide range of activities, games, sports and healthy lifestyle education."
