1:00pm Thursday 15th August 2013 in News
Shoppers and staff rallied round to help an elderly woman who had to be airlifted to hospital following an accident with a delivery trolley.
The woman in her 80s fell in Market Place, Braintree, at about 2.20pm last Wednesday after reportedly leaving the nearby Orange Tree cafe.
Paramedics and police were called to reports that there had been a collision between the woman and a delivery trolley, and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is now investigating.
The woman was flown to Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge with fractures to her arm and leg, and is also understood to have had cuts and a lump on her head from the fall.
A rapid response car, an ambulance and the Essex Air Ambulance were all sent to the incident.
An Essex Police spokesman confirmed officers were called to reports of a collision between a woman and a delivery trolley and said the case had been referred to the HSE.
