A partyware retailer is set to become the second occupant of a town centre pop-up shop.

Party Inspirations will take over the unit at the Corner House, in Market Place, Braintree, this week.

The business, owned by Braintree residents Barrie and Zoe Harvey, will benefit from subsidised rates during their three-month stay.

Mrs Harvey said: “This is a great opportunity to showcase our balloon sculptures, decor and partyware in the town and test our products in the market.

“This gives us the chance to achieve our aim to open a shop on a more permanent basis.”

The business will pay £75 a week in rent, with all utility fees covered.

The pop-up shop initiative is being funded as part of Braintree’s £86,500 Portas Pilot grant.

Chris Siddall, cabinet member for prosperity, said: “Starting any new business is extremely challenging and the next three months is going to be tough for them, but is also a fantastic opportunity to experience and be part of the retail community.”

Jewellery business Tynska Designs was the first tenant to occupy the pop-up shop.

Owner Elaine Newman, who hoped to come close to breaking even over the three-month period, said she was unsure if she would move into a permanent unit in the future.
