Shoppers have helped to raise £100 for a charity which supports children with a rare premature aging syndrome.

Asda customers chose the charity Amy and Friends, which provides support for those affected by Cockayne Syndrome to receive £100.

Ella Barden, 6, of Speedwell Close, Witham, was diagnosed with the syndrome last year and her family have been raising awareness ever since.

Mum Jodie, two-year-old brother Alex and newborn sister Chloe, who is also has the syndrome, collected the check from the Highfields Road store and three siblings had a go at scanning shopping for customers.

The runners-up Hearing Help and Powers Hall Junior School both received cheques for £25 each.
