Braintree Town have been handed more good news as striker Sean Marks has extended his contract with the club for another year.

The popular 27-year-old signed a new deal to take his contract through to the summer of 2014 in the aftermath of playing his 198th game for the club – their 1-1 draw with Woking in the Blue Square Bet Premier – last night.

Since joining the club in 2008, the former Wivenhoe Town and Heybridge Swifts forward has scored 77 times, with 11 of those coming in the current campaign.

Braintree manager Alan Devosnhire said: “I’m absolutely delighted that Sean’s with us next season.

“He’s worked really hard over the past two years, is a proven goalscorer at this level and is playing some of the best football of his career.

“He’s a great character around the club as well, he always gives us 100 per cent.”

Marks will hope to close in on his 200th appearance over the next few days, with a home game against Nuneaton Town coming up on Thursday and then another fixture at the Amlin Stadium against Alfreton Town on Saturday.
