A pensioner claims he has been left in the cold waiting for buses that never arrive too many times.

Rex Butler, 72, and his wife Maria, 74, often take the 21 service to attend hospital and GP appointments.

The couple, of Longleaf Drive, Braintree, said two buses failed to arrive last week and another two were 15 minutes late.

First has apologised for recent problems on a number of services, blaming engineering staff and driver sickness.

It has taken on contract staff, a new engineering supervisor and nine new buses at the Braintree depot.
