Boxing gym set for former church
A VACANT church is set to be converted into a boxing gym.
An application to change the use of the former Witham Redeemed Christian Church of God, in Briarsford Industrial Estate, has been submitted to Braintree District Council.
Winners Boxing, based in Chelmsford, plans to turn the industrial unit, in Perry Road, into a boxing and fitness centre.
If the plans are approved, the 1,000sq m gym would be open between 9am and 9pm every day including bank holidays.
The unit is one of five in the estate which is lying empty, having been vacated last year by the church after its funding collapsed.
