Paramedics and air ambulance crews are treating a man who has suffered serious injuries to his right hand side following a crash.

The driver's black Ford Fiesta was travelling towards Witham when it lost control and careered into a tree on Church Hill, Faulkbourne, at about 7.45am this morning.

After hitting the tree, the car went through about 25 yards of roadside fencing, part of which went through the back of the seat and into the driver.

Acting Sergeant Nigel Taplin said: "At this stage we are treating this as serious but not life-threatening."

Fire crews attended the scene and had cut the driver from his vehicle by 9.40am.

Any witnesses who saw the crash are asked to call police on 101.
