Taxi passengers are being asked for their views on how taxis are licensed in Uttlesford.

Uttlesford Council has a legal duty to grant Hackney carriage or private hire driving licences to any applicant who has held a full driving licence for at least a year.

However, it must first be satisfied that the applicant is a “fit and proper person”, taking into account factors such as their health and any criminal convictions they may have.

The council wants people to give their views on its draft Taxi and Licensed Vehicle Policy.

It can be viewed online at www.uttlesford.gov.uk/licensing
