Braintree: Courier still feeling the effects after thief ploughed into him with his own van Braintree: Courier still feeling the effects after thief ploughed into him with his own van

A courier who was knocked down as he tried to stop a thief from stealing his van is still battling to overcome his injuries.

Keiron Short, 39, was bundled to the ground as he climbed out of his van to make a delivery in Romford in May last year.

The father-of-one, of Panfield Lane, Braintree, then stepped in front of the van expecting to prevent the thief from driving it away, but was ploughed into.

Despite suffering leg injuries, Mr Short picked himself up and managed to flag down a passing car.

He then used the driver’s phone to call police, while the pair gave chase.

They eventually tracked the van down about ten minutes later when it suddenly stopped and the thief jumped out and ran off.

Only a black hooded top was stolen from the van.

Mr Short, who suffered muscle and cartilage damage in his knee, has had to undergo physiotherapy ever since.

No one has ever been arrested in connection with the incident.
