Braintree: Solo rower Charlie Pitcher on verge of world record
A rower is on the verge of breaking the world record for the quickest solo crossing of the Atlantic Ocean.
Dad-of-four Charlie Pitcher, 50, is hoping to reach Barbados on Thursday after 36 days alone on the water.
Charlie, of Alderton Close, Felsted, is within 200 miles of the finish line having departed from La Gomera, in the Canary Islands, on February 6.
Charlie is raising money for Great Ormond Street Hospital and the C Group. To follow his progress, visit transatlanticsolo.com
