Braintree: Jacqui back at work after losing an eye
A teaching assistant has returned to work for the first time since losing an eye to a rare fungal infection.
Jacqui Stone underwent 22 operations as doctors battled to save her left eye, but it eventually had to be removed following fears the aggressive infection, caused by the fungus Fusarium, would enter her brain.
Mrs Stone, 43, who now wears a prosthetic eye, returned to work at Tabor Academy in Braintree last week - nine months after the horrific episode began.
It was a significant milestone for the mother-of-two, who has had to make huge adjustments to her life.
