A headteacher has defended the punishment of a schoolboy who breached child protection rules by filming his friend doing the latest dance craze.
Model student Joseph Scotting, 16, spent the day in internal exclusion for uploading it to the web on the last day before half term at Alec Hunter Humanities College.
Headteacher Trevor Lawn has said the rules are in place to protect vulnerable youngsters who could be put in danger by online postings.
He said: “Our students have been reminded many times, in assemblies and through our newsletter, The Herald, that it is our policy to permit the taking of photographs only as part of a supervised activity.
“This is indeed for child protection reasons, since if unauthorised photos are taken and subsequently published online, it could put some of our learners at significant risk."
