Calling all carnival queens... Braintree needs you.

To celebrate the theme, 50 Golden Years, Braintree Carnival organisers are trying to reunite all the queens and princesses.

Committee member Pat Watson has contacted as many of them as she can find but is hoping others may come forward for the reunion on May 17 at Bocking Village Club.

Some of the queens and princesses have been tracked down as far away as America and Australia but there are still another 43 to find.

Mrs Watson said: “It will be lovely if they come, it would be wonderful.”

The committee is also in the process of choosing this year’s carnival court, who must be aged between 14 and 24 at the time of the carnival on June 8.

The competition for the court will be held on March 22 at Bocking Sports Club.
