Pair jailed for drive-by shooting in Colchester

Drive-by shooters Dean Edwards and Michael Cooper have been jailed for 15 years and six years respectively.

Edwards, 38, of Convent Close, Braintree, fired three shots at TPs bar in Queen Street, Colchester on September 15 last year.

The attack was in revenage after he had been thrown out after a row over a drink.

Cooper, 40, of Russell Road, Clacton, drove Edwards around the town centre six times.

They were convicted of possessing a firearm to endanger life at Chelmsford Crown Court today.

Old enough to know better and if not locked up would have probably done it again and hurt innocent people who got in the way. We are all better off with them behind bars.

I think that's a fair sentence for the crime commited.

Perhaps this will put people off using guns and knives with the deterrant of such long sentences to serve.

But then again I can't see that working either, perhaps corporal punishment could be used.
