Having gone through a traumatic pregnancy and labour, Siobhan Riordan was devastated to find out one-and-a-half years later that her baby might never sit up or communicate.

Georgina, of Great Notley, was diagnosed with quadriplegic cerebral palsy, which affects muscle control and movement, and microcephalus, which causes a small brain and head.

Now 19, she cannot walk, read or write and has epileptic fits. But it has not stopped her living a full life.

Her mum Siobhan said: “A neurologist told us 'you're going to be left with a vegetable.'

“I always say to other mums they never know what's going to happen."
