Witham: Councillors take action over Morrisons rejection

Furious councillors are urging supermarket giant Morrisons to appeal after its store expansion plans were vetoed.

Witham town councillors will also be speaking to Iain Duncan Smith, the work and pensions secretary of state, at a Conservative Association dinner later this week and writing to Braintree Council’s chief executive and leader.

Braintree Council’s planning committee rejected a second application from Morrisons to increase its Braintree Road store by 70 per cent last week.

It ruled the £10million investment could damage Tesco’s town centre store - and other shops which Tesco customers visited - and plans to revamp the ageing Newlands Shopping Centre.

We vote for local councillors in Witham
yet we have people from the likes of
Coggeshall & Hedingham running an agenda which is not for your towns benefit.
