Braintree: Drivers taking shortcuts on children's walking route
Drivers are ignoring access restrictions and speeding along a narrow road used by schoolchildren, residents say.
Signs at the entrance to Panfield Lane, at the junction with Rayne Road, in Braintree, state the road is restricted to access only.
But cars continue to use the road as a shortcut, and calls are being made to seek a solution to the problem.
Amanda Woolmer, headteacher of John Bunyan Junior School, in Lancaster Way, said: “When we include those children who walk into town or use the library, 50 per cent of pupils regularly use it as a walkway."
