One of the areas biggest free music festivals is set to return after an unexpected cancellation last year.

Kelvedon Community Festival, formerly named the Kelvedon Free Music Festival, is set to be held on July 13.

It was cancelled in May last year after organisers were asked to provide a traffic management and an improved security and stewarding plan by Essex Police.

Organisers claimed two months did not leave them enough time.

Organising committee member Arthur Smith said there had been meetings with the local authority and Essex Police in November last year.

He said: “We presented a plan that was slightly different in flavour from the music festival and has a more community origin."
