Witham: Drink driving charge after car smashes into pole
A man has been charged with drink driving after his car smashed into a telegraph pole.
The driver also hit a wall when travelling along Maldon Road, Witham, close to the junction with Blue Mills Hill, at 11.30pm on Sunday.
An Essex Police spokesman said: “A telephone pole and a wall were knocked down, causing traffic congestion the following morning.”
The road was blocked throughout Monday’s morning rush hour as repairs were carried out.
A 25-year-old man, from Witham, has been charged with drink driving, having no insurance, no MOT and driving without due care and attention.
He is due to appear at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on March 13.
