A judge changed his mind about jailing a woman who stole more than £50,000 from her employer.

Angela Dunne worked for Colin Pharaoh for 16 years.

Chelmsford Crown Court heard Dunne, of Mulberry Gardens, Witham, stole between £58,000 and £68,000 from his company, which ran Elsenham Golf Club, Environment Solutions and the now closed Recycle-Direct.com.

On Monday, Judge Anthony Goldstaub QC jailed Dunne, 44, for nine months after she admitted 16 charges of fraud, false accounting and theft.

But he changed his mind overnight and yesterday suspended the jail term for 18 months and imposed a curfew for three months between 8pm-6am.

After the case, Braintree businessman Mr Pharaoh said it was "disgraceful."
