Iron will have to be on top form against the division's best
Braintree Town know they will have to be at their very best to get any joy tonight from a fixture against a team that Iron boss Alan Devonshire rates as the best in the Blue Square Bet Premier.
Leaders Grimsby Town will come to the Amlin Stadium (kick-off 7.45pm) looking to extend an 18-match unbeaten run in all competitions, while hosts Braintree will be hoping to record only their fifth home win of the season.
Devonshire said: “Grimsby are flying and we know it will be tough.
“They have two big strong forwards so we know how they will play and any weaknesses on our part will be punished.
“When teams are playing as well as Grimsby are at the moment, they don’t fear anybody.
“I rate them as the best team in the league and we’ll have to be at our very best to get anything, but we are looking forward to it.”
Devonshire said he was unsure on the fitness of Iron skipper Kenny Davis and the midfielder’s knee would be tested ahead of the game to see if he could feature, however, keeper Danny Naisbit is still out with an ankle problem.
