The father of a killer who tortured and murdered his ex-partner and their two-year-old daughter insists his son was not evil.
Peter Oakes was first alerted to son David’s death when a representative from the prison service knocked at his door in Blott Rise, Witham, on Monday.
The 81-year-old said his son died of multiple organ failure after suffering with stomach cancer.
