1:05pm Tuesday 12th February 2013 in News
Christine Chambers was murdered at her home in Braintree in 2011
A man who was friends with David Oakes for more than 45 years hopes his death will bring some closure.
Ian Flitt, 51, is also Christine Chambers ex-partner and the father to her 11-year-old daughter who fled for help the night her mother and sister were murdered.
He had mixed emotions about Oakes’ death but said it was probably for the best.
He said: “To be honest, I think it is a good thing and will bring closure for all the families involved.
“It will help everyone to move on."
