Braintree: Plans for hotel near A120 revived

Plans for a 42-bedroom hotel close to the A120 are being revived.

Outline permission for the complex at Ivy Cottages, in Long Green, Cressing, close to the Galleys Corner roundabout, was granted on appeal in July 2010.

But the conditions of the appeal stated the applicants must submit detailed plans for the appearance of the site within three years.

A new application has been submitted this month to extend the time limit.

Planning agent Mark Jackson, who is acting on behalf of applicant Brevan Homes, said: “It is made at a time when there needs to be continued support for local businesses and promoters of sites which will support the local economy.

“The site is currently underused, is environmentally poor and the proposal provides the opportunity to considerably enhance the character and appearance of the area.”

yeah yeah yeah, just build everywhere and ruin the whole place, money is the only driving force here - not how unsightly the area looks at the mo, if the proposers were so concerned how it looks, ask them to plant a few trees on the site, not a hotel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
