Voluntary groups have be given thousands of pounds of funding for community projects.

last year 12 organisations received grants from the annual £50,000 Community Fund made up of cash from the Greenfields Community Fund and the joint Community and Housing Investment Partnership Fund with Braintree Council.

Organisations included the Tabor Centre in Courtauld Road, Braintree which was given £2,830 to continue a creative writing course for disabled people, £5,000 to the Silver End Scout Group for work towards a new HQ and £1,513 to The National Childbirth Trust to run a postnatal drop-in service in Halstead.
