A teacher insists it is up to parents to ensure school-issued iPads are not being used inappropriately outside of school.

Honywood Community Science School, in West Drive, Coggeshall, issues the handheld devices to every one of its 1,200 pupils.

But the school admits it will be another three years until it knows whether the scheme has been a success.

Other headteachers are keen to ensure the project is not a “gimmick” before they follow suit.
