Braintree district: One A-board per business rule

Witham High Street is set to become less cluttered as new rules mean each business can only have one A-board.
Essex County Council introduced the rules, along with others such as boards being no bigger than A1 size, as part of its new policy.
Former retailer Mike Heard raised the issue at a Witham Town Council meeting as he believed they looked untidy and caused obstructions.
Speaking about the new policy the 64-year-old of Allectus Way said: “It is a step in the right direction but who will police it?
“Obviously anything helps, especially with the numbers going down as several businesses in Witham put out more than one and they do get in the way.”
Town councillor Lucy Barlow had spoken of the need to balance pedestrian needs with those of businesses.
She said: “The policy does seem reasonable, I think it will be interesting to see how it will be enforced."
