School run parents are endangering children through irresponsible parking, claim a headteacher and police.

Drivers park on pavements and in the middle of roads to avoid parking restrictions around Whitecourt Primary School in Great Notley.

Headteacher Diane Deans said: "The parking is dangerous. There are people parking on pavements.

"There is double parking, so people don’t stop in the zigzag area but stop just outside the zigzag.

“In fact, people just stop in the morning, open their car door and let their children out."

The school and police are working to persuade people to park elsewhere.
