Witham: Butterfly bake sale for Ella
Youngsters cooked up a butterfly themed fundraiser for a former pupil’s bucket list.
Schoolchildren at Powers Hall Infant School held a cake sale and a non-uniform day for six-year-old Ella Barden, who has the fatal premature ageing illness, Cockayne Syndrome.
Her little brother Alex also went to the bake sale last Wednesday with mum Jodie, whose unborn baby has also been diagnosed with the syndrome.
Along with dad Luke the family have been raising money for Ella’s bucket list and to raise awareness of the syndrome.
Mrs Barden, 26, of Speedwell Close, Witham, said: “Ella loves going back to see all her friends and I couldn’t believe how many cakes there were.
