Education inspectors are pleased with progress at a secondary school rated inadequate last year.

Ofsted has carried out its first monitoring inspection at Alec Hunter Humanities College, Braintree, since highlighting serious weaknesses including inadequate teaching and pupil underachievement in November.

Alec Hunter plans to become an academy, sponsored by Saffron Walden County High School, one of the country’s best schools.
