3:15pm Wednesday 6th February 2013 in News
Mark Leslie and Derek Monnery of Essex Rail Users Federation with MPs Chloe Smith and Priti Patel
Commuter champions met transport chiefs and MPs to press for better rail services.
Essex Rail Users Federation, Witham MP Priti Patel, business leaders and politicians were among those to attend the recent East Anglian Rail Summit in Westminster.
They called for at least a half hourly service for all Essex stations were possible and extra tracks between Witham and the proposed station at Beaulieu Park, Chelmsford, to ease congestion during peak times.
New and refurbished carriages and faster trains were also on their priorities list.

The rail franchises are too short for the train co's to invest millions in new rolling stock.
The lines at capacity now and without new tracks there's no more space, and there's no space or money for the new tracks.
Still not to worry the fares will soon be so expensive we won't be able to afford to use the train.

Add to this tourism and visitors bothe summer and winter, yet Douglas seems oblivious to the need for a good train service. We had yet more problems on Monday morning, and who appeared on TV calling for improvements? Yes, Ipswich MP Ben Gummer.
I agree with Tony LR2 what is Douglas up to? As there is little work in Clacton there is a vast exodus each day from Clacton by train. Perhaps Douglas should visit the stations in the evening rush hour and see for himself the number of his constituents using the trains and gauge some of the feelings about the service we receive. Now there's an idea Douglas?
