Emerging folk talent and distinctive vocal talents will be on show at the next show in the Live at the Institute series.

Regularly compared to the likes of Alison Krauss and Laura Marling, The Willows will be the evening’s headline act.

Fronted by the outstanding voice of Jade Ward, the group is supported by rich vocal harmonies and sensitive acoustic musicianship.

The band was formed in spring 2010 by husband and wife Cliff and Jade Ward, along with sister Prue Ward, university housemate Stephen MacLachlan and Ben Savage, who was found after placing a classified ad.

Their debut album Beneath Our Humble Soil is due for release in the UK later this month.

Also appearing at the Institute this week is classically trained folk revival duo Josienne Clarke and Ben Walker.

The line-up is completed by singer-songwriter Jack Harris, who burst onto the scene in 2005 when he became the first British winner of the prestigious New Folk Competition at the Kerrville Folk Festival, aged just 19.

Live at the Institute takes place on Friday from 8pm at the Institute, in Kelvedon High Street.

Tickets are £12.50 on the door or £11 in advance.
