Children hope to raise £4,000 so they can commemorate their school’s 50th year at its current site.

Pupils at St Francis Primary School in Gilchrist Way, Braintree, want to install stained glass windows to mark the occasion.

A local artist has been commissioned to create the windows, designed by the children.

Ex-school governor, Malcolm Clapp, 57, is planning to climb five mountains in five days in February to raise some extra funds for the new windows.

To sponsor Mr Clapp or to donate directly to the school, call teacher Rhiann Staines at 01376 320440.
