A brewery remains committed to keeping the Jack and Jenny pub in Witham.

Brakspear hopes to let the Hatfield Road pub, which has been closed since October 2011.

Tom Davies, chief executive of Brakspear, said: “We have no plans to sell the Jack and Jenny.

“We are looking for a new tenant to run the pub.”

The reason that it has been closed for 15 months is the rent the greedy brewery wants, £55,000 p.a. At this rate it will be closed much longer especially as there are plans to build a new pub/restaurant close by as part of the Maltings estate new development.
