The builders of a new leisure centre are keen to work with locally-based companies during the construction project.

Main contractor Barr Construction was awarded the contract for Witham Leisure Centre by Braintree Council in December.

The £9.5million centre will be built on the former site of John Bramston School in Spinks Lane, and will replace the existing Bramston Sports Centre, in Bridge Street.

Detailed design work and on-site surveys are being carried out in the next few months ahead of construction work beginning later this year.

Barr Construction has arranged a suppliers day at the Rivenhall Hotel, in Rivenhall End, on Thursday for companies to learn more about the project.

The suppliers day takes place from 10am to 4pm.
