Thieves stole a couple’s rare vintage car while they were celebrating their honeymoon.

Sam and Joy Bradshaw fear bits of their 1982 Ford Cortina- one of just 20 left in the country- could have been sold for scrap after Braintree Council sent them a fly tipping warning letter after bits of the vehicle were found in a field.

The rare car, which Mr Bradshaw has lovingly restored was taken from outside their home in Finsbury Place, Halstead, between January 12 and 15 while the newlyweds were honeymooning in Finland.

The couple had been saving for the trip since their wedding day in October 2011.

The car is pictured above, it is a Ford Cortina Carousel with green upholstered seats and interior.

The registration plate is OHL 401X.

Anyone with information should contact Braintree police station on 101.
