Braintree: Victim slams 26 minute wait for police Braintree: Victim slams 26 minute wait for police

A FATHER whose family had to hide from a sledgehammer-wielding-man has slammed police for taking almost half an hour to arrive.

Ken Breach said he phoned the police as the man became violent and home to Beckers Green Road.

The 40-year-old claimed there were five children in the home- three of whom were his- and that officers had come from Stanway.

Essex Police’s emergency response target time is 10 minutes.

He said: “They knew it was serious and they knew he was violent."

Are we really faced with a situation whereby a potentially very serious crime – possibly even life threatening - is in progress and there is not a single police Officer available within Braintree who can attend?

Stanway is 14 miles away!

Just what is going on?!

By the way, yet again what a shame someone couldn't be bothered to cast an editorial eye over the draft of his lamentable piece of writing. The second paragraph is sheer gobbledegook.

Its ridiculous isn't it. A man with a hammer came through my back gate and into my garden. I was terrified, ran upstairs and hid behind the bed. I called the police and I was so scared, but they would not come out. When the man left in a van I took his registration number down, and went to give it to the police. They would not take it from me. For weeks I had the most dreadful nightmares where the man was breaking in throufgh the wall with his hammer to rape me. And I shakle agaion now thinking about it. I did not know there was meant to be a response time and so am suprised to see this story being reported as though it is unusal. I assumed they wouldn't come out to anybody.
