Campaigners have lost their fight to keep a long-serving village doctor.

Doctor Conor Macnamara was made redundant from Brimpton House Surgery in Kelvedon at the end of the last month despite a long fight by the practice’s patients action group and MP Priti Patel.

NHS Mid Essex Primary care Trust (PCT) contracts Dr Abdul Raouf Alsayed who employed Dr Macnamara But Mr Alsayed decided to end this arrangement for unspecified financial reasons and run the practice alone.

Brimpton House Patients Action Group, who collected more than 500 signatures in support of Dr Macnamara, said they were disappointed.

Neither Dr Alsayed or Dr Macnamara were available for comment.
