Ninety per cent of villagers described traffic as a major concern, according to latest figures.

As part of the two year project creating Feering’s Parish Plan volunteers asked all the 1,700 residents, aged over 16, about the village and their hopes for the future.

Almost all of the 673 residents who responded to the questionnaire flagged up speeding cars in Inworth Road, Coggeshall Road, Little London and Feering Hill as a concern.

They also said pollution and noise, particularly from HGVs, was a problem.

Other comments within the plan included the possibility of a volunteer-run village shop and the view that only a small amount of houses should be built over the next 20 years.

Parish council chairman Paul Petto said: “I think it is going to be really good, we will know as a parish council when making decisions that this is what people wants, it gives us a mandate.”

He was not surprised about the traffic concerns and fears they will worsen with any further developments in Tiptree.

He said: “There is no short term solution, we can hope for a slip road from the A12 to Tiptree so drivers don’t have to come through Feering but the cost would be phenomenal.”
