Braintree: My children are still terrified, says fire neighbour Braintree: My children are still terrified, says fire neighbour

A family claim their lives have been “turned upside down” after a fire tore through their neighbour’s home.

Roxanne Gant, 28, and her partner were putting their three young children to bed when neighbour Ana Rego started a fire next door in Rosemary Avenue, Braintree, in August last year.

They were alerted by concerned passers-by.

Although the £5,000 cost of damage to the structure of their home was met by Greenfields Community Housing, the blaze and smoke also caused more than £2,000 damage to their belongings.

The family, who had no contents insurance, have been picking up the bill ever since and claimed the fire had left even deeper scars for their children.
