Witham: Could Toys R Us come to Maltings Lane?
Retail giants Toys R Us and Pets at Home could have their sites set on Witham.
Plans for 213 homes, a new football pitch, two supermarkets, offices, a retail park and a health centre- creating 1,300 jobs at the Maltings Lane development- were given the go ahead by Braintree Council last week.
Changes to the original proposals include bulk retail units and both Pets at Home and Toys R Us have been suggested as possible tenants.
However developers, Churchmanor Estates, told councillors it wants to build just one and a half full sized football pitches instead of two and halve the amount of office space because of a lack of interest from business.
