Worried villagers have had their say on plans for a waste centre that could be built near a notoriously busy road.

Essex County Council wants to build a waste transfer station at Cordons Farm in Long Green, Cressing, off the Galleys Corner roundabout on the A120.

It would mean 110 lorries visiting the site each day, carrying 71,250 tonnes of rubbish a year.

A public exhibition was held last week where about 34 residents quizzed council officers about the plans.

Many also turned out to Cressing Parish Council’s meeting on Thursday, where county council staff answered questions from parish councillors.

110 lorries each day? Galleys Corner A120 is already busy enough with traffic! I think the road layout should be considered before any thoughts of a waste transfer station!

Absolutely ridiculous, the worst place for traffic jams and what does Essex CC want to do...invite an extra 110 lorries each day to the area.

It must be easy to get a job at Essex CC, my idea would be to build a picturesque Discovery Centre right next to Industrial Units....whoops, thats already been done!
