Braintree district: Commuters hit by further rail price rises
Workers commuting to and from London have been hit by yet another above-inflation increase in rail fares.
Season ticket prices to London have increased by 4.1% for rail users travelling from Braintree and Witham stations.
It means commuters travelling between Braintree and London Liverpool Street will now have to pay more than £4,000 per year.
This year’s increase in rail fares comes after prices were increased by 5.9% a year ago - daily commuters have to pay £300 more for an annual season ticket compared to two years ago.
